In that day you will sing:
"Praise the LORD!
He was
angry with me,
but now he comforts me.
See, God has come to save
me.
I will trust in him and not be afraid.
The LORD GOD is my strength and my song;
he has become my
salvation."
With joy you will drink deeply from the fountain of
salvation! In that wonderful day you will sing:
"Thank the LORD!
Praise his name!
Tell the world what he has
done.
Oh, how mighty he is!
Sing to the LORD,
for
he has done wonderful things.
Make known his praise around the world.
Let
all the people of Jerusalem shout his praise with joy!
For great is the Holy
One of Israel who lives among you."
Isaiah 12
Maybe I have shared this with you before, but I am going to share it again. When I was a little girl my mother worked in a beer joint. She wasn't a bad woman, she just didn't know how to do anything else and it was the 50s (I'm telling my age).
Every day after school I would drop in and stay awhile before heading home to do my homework. While there I would sing for the clientele (putting it nicely please) and they would give me money to sing their favorite songs.
One day a man came in and asked my mom if he could take me to audition at a local radio station that had a live Saturday afternoon show. She said, "Yes." So, he picked me up one Saturday morning and off I went for the beginning of an awesome time in my life. I must have met with their standards because I sang that day and before too long I became a regular on the show and went by the name, "Little Sherry Lee."
It was too much fun. The agent gave me free dancing lessons, charm classes (oh well, something had to not work right), and voice lessons. It was fun! I also was on a team of young talent that traveled around the state with a TV personality known as Cousin Cliff. Everything was going great until my mom wakened me around 3:00 one morning to sing for her friends and I couldn't remember any words to any songs.
God has always used music to comfort me. One day He will release me to share my story and sing praises to His name again. Yes, I know many would say that I am too old. Hello! Moses was in his eighties when God released him to set the captives free. I have plenty of time left to start operating in all the gifts and talents the Lord has blessed me with. And guess what? It's not too late for you either!
Oh, my Lord You are more than I can think or imagine. I praise You because You are perfect in love and mercy. I praise You because You do set the captives free! I praise You because You are the God who comforts us! We lift our hearts and voices in worship of You today. Receive our gifts with joy!
