HE WILL PROTECT YOU!

"Israel is no stronger than its capital, Samaria. And Samaria is no stronger than its king, Pekah son of Remaliah. You do not believe me? If you want me to protect you, learn to believe what I say."
Isaiah 7:9

In Isaiah's day people scoffed at God, they didn't believe He was real or if they believed He was real ¾ they didn't believe He cared. Sound familiar? We are quite familiar with that attitude. However, we noticed a little change in the early days following September 11 ¾ didn't we?

God is real and He is very, very interested in what is happening in your life and in mine. However, as the last phrase above states so very well, "If you want me to protect you, learn to believe what I say." If we are going to walk in God's favor we must first believe He is real, second that He cares for us, and third we need to believe what He says!

One of the things in this chapter of Isaiah that grabs me is the attitude of King Ahaz. At one point God tells the king to ask Him anything and He will come through, but King Ahaz refuses! Now, folks, I don't know about you, but if God gave me that opportunity I would seize it! Okay, I guess you would too, but people ¾ He promises us that everyday. The reason we don't experience it is because we honestly, way deep down in our heart, don't believe Him!

In January of 2000, the Lord gave me a promise in the book of Deuteronomy. "If you fully obey the Lord your God by keeping all the commands I am giving you today, the Lord your God will exalt you above all the nations of the world. You will experience all these blessings if you obey the Lord your God: You will be blessed in your towns and in the country. You will be blessed with many children and productive fields. You will be blessed with fertile herds and flocks. You will be blessed with baskets overflowing with fruit, and with kneading bowls filled with bread. You will be blessed wherever you go, both in coming and in going. The Lord will conquer your enemies when they attack you. They will attack you from one direction, but they will scatter from you in seven! The Lord will bless everything you do and will fill your storehouses with grain. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you. If you obey the commands of the Lord your God and walk in his ways, the Lord will establish you as his holy people as he solemnly promised to do. Then all the nations of the world will see that you are a people claimed by the Lord, and they will stand in awe of you." (Deuteronomy 28:1-10) I really, really believed that ¾ for about two weeks. Then Satan began to attack! However, in April, following an extremely traumatic week, I really began to not only not believe Him, but actually doubt Him.

Again, I don't know about you, but when my children doubt me ¾ it hurts and I am not inspired to try to prove them wrong! Please know that God wants to prove Himself to us. He wants to deliver us through our problems ¾ not from them!

Father, many people are at the end of their hope because of the financial status of our country. Some are going through divorce. Some are having problems with their children. We ask You to forgive us for doubting the truth that You can deliver us through these problems. Go ahead ¾ help us be still and tell You what we want and give us the faith to believe that You will protect us through our storms!

Hope you were encouraged.
