"You will be called priests of the Lord, ministers of our God…Instead of
shame and dishonor, you will inherit a double portion of prosperity and
everlasting joy."
Isaiah 61:6-7
When I reread these words this morning, I was reminded of something Chuck Swindoll said once that really ministered to me. Although I don't remember his exact words he said something like," God didn't save us just so we could die and go to heaven. If that was all salvation was good for, the moment we were saved we would go on to Heaven." God saved us to be an ambassador for Him. He wants us to be ministers.
I am almost through with writing my book. It is amazing how much the Holy Spirit can accomplish through us when we submit to Him. The opening statement of the book proclaims an old truth, "God has a plan for your life." Unfortunately, God's plan for our lives is often aborted because we choose to believe the lies of Satan over the truth of God.
When we make a special effort to be still before the Lord and ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit we will receive it. As I did that this weekend, the Holy Spirit directed me to specific instances in both my physical and spiritual childhood so I could see where Satan attacked me and I believed his lies about me. I have walked under this cloud of darkness all my life. God is releasing me. If He is doing it for me He will do it for you.
The Lord gave me an opportunity Saturday to minister to three different women. Each of these women experienced sexual abuse in their developing years. Their very souls were attacked and thus, they have lived with a broken heart. Well, Jesus came to mend the broken hearted. He came to set the captives free! When we are walking in His purpose for our lives He will empower us to do greater works than He did. I am seeing this happen on a daily basis as women are released from this bondage to their abusers.
He is ready to pour out this "double portion of prosperity and joy" on His children. Are you ready to receive it? Are you hungry for Him? Do you thirst for the living water available for you? Isaiah 55:1 says, "Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink—even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk—it's all free!" The more we trust Him to do His work in and through us – the greater the prosperity of our souls will be and the greater amount of joy we will walk in.
When we start trusting the Holy Spirit more than we trust ourselves we will literally accomplish more for the Kingdom than we can imagine! Let today be the first day of the rest of your life. Let today be the day you release the power of God in your life and start walking in God's plan for you! God is waiting for us to take the responsibility to receive! To God be the Glory!
Father, I thank You and praise You for Your patience with us. I praise You for Your promises that are being fulfilled in our lifetime. I praise You for faith that You give so freely when we submit to Your plan for our lives. Help us walk in the ministerial role You have for us to mend the brokenhearted and set the captives free. Give us our double portion, we receive it in the name of Jesus! Hallelujah!
