"Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink – even if you have no money! Come,
take your choice of wine or milk – it's all free! Why spend your money on
food that does not give you strength? Why pay for food that does you no good?
Listen, and I will tell you where to get food that is good for you, where to get
food that is good for the soul!
"Come to me with your ears wide open.
Listen, for the life of your soul is at stake. I am ready to make an everlasting
covenant with you. I will give you all the mercies and unfailing love that I
promised to David."
Isaiah 55:1-3
Our Father hungers for our healing. He wants us to know the genuine freedom of an innocent child who takes no thought of how and where their food will come. All they know is that they get hungry and then they are satisfied.
Many victims of abuse grow up expecting everybody around them to do everything for them from feeding them to paying their bills. These victims refuse to accept responsibility for themselves – that is not what our Father is advocating here. He wants us to be responsible, but He wants to be the provider of our spiritual food and healing.
Yes, we will need to work. Yes, we will need to clean up our lives. Yes, we may even have to cook. However, if we are doing our part, God will do more than His part to make sure all the pieces of our lives fit together and turn out for good.
Many victims are overweight thinking their size will protect them from more abuse. Unfortunately, this doesn't work. All it does is shorten our lives and isolate us from society. I don't know about you, but I am totally tired of living my life as a victim. I want Christ to be victorious in and through me. I am ready to live!
Heavenly Father, I know sometimes you must get
sick and tired of my childish ways. I know you want me to come to you with the
faith of a child, but not childishly. I realize that internally I often lay on
the floor of my soul kicking and screaming at you to give me answers I think I
need. I guess that is one of the reasons I love you so much Lord. You don't give
in to my temper tantrums. You just turn away with your love and let me stew in
my own juices. Thank you. Father, I want total healing – inside and out. I am
sick and tired of being sick and tired all the time. Renew my strength, renew my
joy, give me the strength I need to say no to physical food, and yes to Your
soul food that will nourish me for eternity. Maybe in the meantime my entire
life will become less of me and more of You! Now, Lord, that would be
awesome!
In the name of Jesus,
Amen
