BEAUTIFUL FEET!

How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns!
Isaiah 52:7

Most of us never think much about feet, especially about how beautiful they might be. Certainly, when a baby is born you want to check and make sure there are ten fingers and toes, and you compare their hands and feet to the mother and father and other relatives. But to just check out the feet of people we come in contact with is not something we would normally do. But I think Isaiah was talking about more than just the physical attractiveness of the feet he mentioned.

There was a time when I had a full day to test whether my feet were beautiful. After waiting until almost 4:00 for Jessica to give birth to Cody, I agreed to meet another of my children later in the evening to pick up her layaway at Wal-Mart. Meeting her there about 7:30 that night; I waited almost 2 hours to pick up 2 boxes and a bicycle. But instead of getting upset, I spent my time observing and talking with people around me.

Many were frustrated at the long wait; some even left mumbling something about getting their money back. Some were quite vocal to the people who were working so diligently to pull the merchandise. Another person was so involved in reading a soap opera magazine that she didn't have a clue what was going on around her. Yet, I noticed one lady as she stood in line with a smile on her face and talked with the people behind and in front of her – and they were smiling. She even took time to speak to people leaving with their merchandise, wishing them Merry Christmas. Now I didn't actually look down, but I tell you, she had beautiful feet!

I pray that we might have beautiful feet, which would spread that Good News about you to the world around us. Help us experience true Joy and Peace even when it's not Christmas.
