"I am the Lord, your Holy One, Israel's Creator and King. I am the Lord, who
opened a way through the waters, making a dry path through the sea. I called
forth the mighty army of Egypt with all its chariots and horses. I drew them
beneath the waves, and they drowned, their lives snuffed out like a smoldering
candlewick.
"But forget all that ¾ it
is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do a brand-new
thing. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway
through the wilderness for my people to come home. I will create rivers for them
in the desert! The wild animals in the fields will thank me, the jackals and
ostriches, too, for giving them water in the wilderness. Yes, I will make
springs in the desert, so that my chosen people can be refreshed."
Isaiah 43:15-20
Our God is the God of here and now. He is the great "I AM." He wants us to be very mindful of that fact. Oh, yes, He does remind us of things He has done in the past, and on occasion He will give us a vision of what is to come, but He is extremely interested in what is happening right now.
God reminded the people in Isaiah's time of the miraculous deliverance of His children from Egypt. He was the one who orchestrated their most fearful moment. He called forth the mighty army of Egypt to come. Get that ¾ God led them to come and in that moment those people were where God has told me I am time and again ¾ between the wilderness and the Red Sea.
The wilderness these people had just passed through was dry and desolate; suddenly there was plenty of water, but no way to escape the mounting pressure and presence of the enemy. Only God could deliver them. He did. He did it for them then and He will do it for us now.
If God could pick up Philip from a chariot and take him to another place physically, He could do the same for us. However, part of His plan is to lead us step by step; from glory to glory ¾ through the wilderness.
God has allowed me to see many new beginnings on the Horizon for the ministry and for me personally. However, He also reminded me to stay very present in today. If I am so focused on what is to come I will miss "I AM." I will miss God presently with me, recreating me and as He comforms me into the image of His Son. I can get so caught up in what is happening tomorrow that I miss the blessings meant for me today.
Yes, if you aren't already in a wilderness just know you will get there. However, God wants us to draw near to Him and allow Him to refresh us. He will part whatever waters are necessary to get us through if we will just keep our eyes on Him. He is faithful.
Father, I thank You so much again for Your Word. I pray Lord that I will be present with You in the moment. I don't want to miss a single word You have for me. I don't want to miss a single opportunity to love You by loving others. I don't want to miss a single minute of any miracle You want to perform in my life. Teach me Your ways, O God, that I might walk in the way that pleases You! I rest in my wilderness knowing that You will part the Red Sea in Your time!
