…I am weary, O God; I am weary and worn out, O God. I am too ignorant to be
human, and I lack common sense. I have not mastered human wisdom, nor do I know
the Holy One.
Who but God goes up to heaven and comes back down? Who holds
the wind in his fists? Who wraps up the oceans in his cloak? Who has created the
whole wide world? What is his name—and his son’s name? Tell me if you know!
Every word of God proves true. He defends all who come to him for
protection. Do not add to his words, or he may rebuke you, and you will be found
a liar. O God, I beg two favors from you before I die. First, help me never to
tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to
satisfy my needs. For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, "Who is the Lord?"
And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God's holy name.
Proverbs
30:1b-9
I don't know about you, but I can relate to these words. It seems the attacks from the enemy are getting stronger and stronger. Just when I think I know which direction he is coming from, he comes at me from a new angle. I praise the Lord for His Word. If it were not for the fact that He holds the whole world in His hands I would have given up a long time ago.
Wherever you go today, let us be aware that we are in a battle. Satan wants control of this world, but he knows that he is defeated. Therefore, he attacks each soldier individually. Every child of God standing near us or across the room this morning is possibly battle worn. So, if someone pushes a shopping cart into you…have patience…they're probably just being attacked too.
We must remember that the One Who holds the winds in His fists is quite capable of giving us exactly what we need at exactly the right moment. After all, He is Lord!
Father, we thank You and praise You for the joy that comes from knowing You. Strengthen us as we go about doing whatever we must do today. Refresh us so that we might be able to go to Your house and worship you tomorrow.
