CLIMB EVERY MOUNTAIN!

The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it.
The world and all its people belong to him.
For he laid the earth's foundation on the seas
and built it on the ocean depths.
Who may climb the mountain of the Lord?
Who may stand in his holy place?
Only those whose hands and hearts are pure,
who do not worship idols and never tell lies.
They will receive the Lord's blessing
and have right standing with God their savior.
They alone may enter God's presence and worship the God of Israel.
Interlude
Psalm 24:1-6

Well, summer is about to come to a close. For many they are taking this time to get out and experience God's creation before school starts back. It's the time of year when families will take vacations and enjoy the earth and everything in it. However, let us not forget to climb the mountain of the Lord during this time. As you stand an observe the rolling display of the ocean's majesty – being still and recognizing that God created it is a step toward that holy mountain. God wants you to enjoy His creation!

Friday night we sat down with the children and watched The Sound of Music. It was thrilling. Back when Roger got his bonus I the Spring, we splurged and got one of those HDTV's and seeing this movie in all it's majesty in our living room was awesome. I enjoy all the songs in that movie – with one exception Climb Every Mountain. Don't get me wrong I love that song, it's just I wish that had chosen someone else to sing it. Oh, well, Callie hung in there with us almost to the finish, but Cody faded pretty quickly. That was our vacation for the year.

It has been over seventeen years since we have had a vacation. However, God has granted us the peace and joy of climbing His holy mountain. He has given us beautiful moments of refreshment as He cleaned our hands and our hearts of the everyday filth of living in a sinful world. He has blessed us with the joy of not worshiping idols or telling lies about our circumstances.

Whether you are planning a vacation or not, take a few moments this weekend and just enjoy looking at God's creation; even if it's from your porch. Let the beauty of the skies refresh you and give you the hunger to climb that holy hill! Don't forget the interlude!

Father, I thank You for the beauty You have placed all around us to remind us that You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. Thank You for Your mercy and grace that cleanses us from our sins and places us in right standing with You. Take us higher! Give us the strength to climb every mountain You lead us to!

Hope you were encouraged.
Please come back often.
